Mini Grants

Community Foundation of Hancock County

Overview

If you have a project or an idea that requires financial support to make a difference in our community, explore our Mini Grants program. We aim to help bring your vision to life with funding opportunities.

Funding Criteria

• Requests must be for $1,500 or less.

• Priority is given to requests for emergencies or immediate needs.

• Mini Grants are intended for one-time expenses; they do not sustain operating or programming costs annually unless there is a plan for future sustainability.

• The applicant organization must directly benefit from the funds.

• Organizations may receive up to $1,500 in Mini Grants per calendar year.

• Mini Grants are awarded on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year, subject to fund availability.

Eligibility

Mini Grants of up to $1,500 are available to:

• Tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations

• Mutual benefit organizations

• Government agencies

• Municipalities

• Churches

Ineligibility

• Mini Grants cannot be used for sustaining ongoing operational or program costs.

• Organizations must explain plans for sustainability if seeking funding for a portion of a new ongoing expense.

Application Process

• Mini Grants are administered on a rolling cycle each calendar year.

• Applications are accepted and evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis until funds for the calendar year are exhausted.

Parke County Community Foundation Grant

Overview

The Parke County Community Foundation is dedicated to improving lives across the community with the support of donors, nonprofits, and volunteers. Established to build endowed funds, the Foundation manages donations prudently to generate earnings used for charitable grants that meet evolving community needs.

Focus Areas

Grants from the Community Grant Fund are open to new or existing charitable organizations and community agencies serving Parke County. They support programs addressing community needs or projects aimed at enhancing community capacity.

Eligibility

• Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and community agencies with charitable purposes serving Parke County.

• Projects must align with IRS 501(c)(3) status or demonstrate efforts to assist the needy and promote well-being in Parke County.

• Projects or organizations lacking charitable purposes or not serving Parke County are ineligible.

Emergency Grants

Community Foundation Of Elkhart County

Deadline: Ongoing.

Overview

Emergency grants are intended for sudden, unanticipated, and unavoidable challenges that, if not addressed immediately, could threaten an organization’s stability and/or ability to achieve its mission. These grants are available to nonprofit organizations serving Elkhart County, Indiana.

Focus Areas

1. Natural/accidental disasters (e.g., fire, flood)

2. Theft or damage to equipment required to operate core programs

3. Accidental or unexpected occurrences that cause facilities to be inaccessible or programs to be inoperable until resolved

4. Unexpected failure or imminent failure of equipment that threatens an organization’s ability to provide programming or services

Eligibility

• Nonprofit organizations classified as 501(c)(3) entities by the IRS

• Public entities such as schools, municipalities, libraries, and chambers of commerce

• Organizations must be current on all grant reports to the Community Foundation

• Applicants serving the residents of Elkhart County

Ineligibility

• Replacing a gradual loss of funding or declining donation income

• Providing interim funding while waiting for government reimbursement

• Starting up new programs

• Church buildings and grounds (exceptions may be given for daycare ministries)

• Food requests

• Problems resulting from an organization’s failure to adequately plan, such as:

o Waiting until a lease expires before locating alternate space

o Relying on a small number of donors without developing a sustainability plan

o Failure to pay taxes

o Operating financial deficits over multiple years

o Failure to anticipate construction contingency costs

o Failure to plan for maintenance or replacement costs of existing equipment

Preferences

• Amount: $250 to $25,000

• 48-hour review period

• Online submission of requests

• Checks processed within two weeks, as early as within 72 hours of application

• Equal and fair consideration of all requests, no guarantee of funding

• Decisions made by program staff with support as needed from committee chairpersons

Overview

East Indiana AHEC offers annual mini-grants aimed at supporting community-based clinical training and service learning for health professions students. These grants are available to career centers, colleges, universities, and healthcare provider organizations in eligible counties. Projects must demonstrate a local matching funds requirement.

Focus Area

The grants support:

• Enhancing learning opportunities for health professions students.

• Addressing healthcare needs in rural and underserved communities.

• Projects should align with one of three goals: Health Careers Awareness, Health Professions College Students, or Practicing Health Professionals.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

• Career centers, colleges, universities, and healthcare provider organizations.

• Located in East Indiana AHEC's service area: Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Franklin, Henry, Jennings, Jefferson, Ohio, Ripley, Rush, Switzerland, Union, and Wayne Counties.

• Applicants must provide a local matching funds contribution as specified.

Ineligibility* Expenses ineligible for funding include:

• Food, entertainment, promotional items, scholarships, salaries, and administrative overhead.

• Matching funds cannot be sourced from these types of expenses either.

Preference

Priority is given to proposals that:

• Improve health careers awareness for underrepresented minorities and disadvantaged groups.

• Enhance skills and competencies of health professions students for primary care in rural and underserved areas.

• Support professional development of healthcare providers in areas such as cultural competency and telehealth.

Application Process

• Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until budgeted funds are exhausted.

• Awards are typically decided within two weeks of application submission.

• Projects operate on a reimbursement basis upon successful completion, submission of receipts, and fulfillment of reporting requirements.
