Eligibility

Tiger Foundation funds organizations that:

• Are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.

• Focus on addressing root causes of poverty in New York City.

• Demonstrate strong measurable outcomes, skilled leadership, cost-effectiveness, and financial health.

Ineligibility

Requests for support are not considered for:

• Individuals

• Annual or capital campaigns

• Endowments

• Benefits

• Public policy or lobbying efforts

• Legal assistance

• Existing obligations or debt liability

Application Process

• There are no deadlines for submitting Letters of Inquiry (LOIs); they are reviewed year-round on a rolling basis.

• Upon receipt of an LOI, initial review takes approximately four to six weeks.

Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) - ReCharge NY Program

New York State Regional Economic Development Councils (Redc)

Overview

ReCharge New York (RNY) is a statewide economic development power program designed to retain or create jobs through allocations of lower-cost electricity to businesses and nonprofit organizations in New York. The program promotes economic development by helping businesses and nonprofits reduce their electricity costs. It also supports businesses planning to expand or relocate to New York State.

Allocations consist of:

• 50% low-cost, renewable hydropower from NYPA’s sites

• 50% market purchases by NYPA

Awards are made on a competitive basis, based on legislative criteria. Long-term contracts provide price stability and predictability, with participants committing to job retention/creation and capital investments.

Focus Areas

• Significance of electricity cost to the applicant's total business costs and impact on operating costs

• New capital investment in New York State resulting from an allocation

• Type and cost of buildings, equipment, and facilities to be constructed, enlarged, or installed

• Consistency with regional economic development strategies and priorities

• Applicant's payroll, salaries, benefits, and job numbers at the facility receiving an allocation

• Number of jobs created or retained within New York State

• Risk of closure, curtailing facilities or operations, relocating out of state, or losing jobs in the state

• Significance to the local economy

• Investment in energy efficiency measures

• Whether the applicant receives a NYPA hydropower allocation or benefits from the sale of NYPA hydropower

• Advantage relative to competitors within the state

• For nonprofits, the significance of the critical service or substantial benefits to the local community

Vision Grants

New York Council For The Humanities

Vision Grants provide $500 to $1,500 to support brainstorming, researching, and professional development for organizations working collaboratively to develop new ideas and strategies for public-facing humanities projects. These grants aim to:

• Support emerging and established partnerships between different groups on a shared project that may develop into public-facing activities.

• Infuse program design with humanities themes and methodologies from the start.

• Encourage experimentation in program design.

• Build community input into program design.

Eligibility:

• Any tax-exempt organization (non-profit, municipality, native nation, or tribal government) based in and serving New York State may apply. Humanities New York (HNY) does not fund individuals.

• Each organization must have a UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) to receive a grant.

• Each organization is eligible to receive one Vision Grant and one Action Grant OR one Vision Grant and one Quick Grant per calendar year. An organization may hold a Vision Grant simultaneously with an active Quick Grant or Action Grant as long as the Vision grant is for a separate project.

• Applicants with an open Action Grant project or open Quick Grant project must complete and close the project before applying for a new Action Grant or Quick Grant.
